3d still and animated model

December 18, 2013 - 3:54am #1

Hi everybody

I am new to Vuforia.  I try to create a mini project with 3D still and animated model.  I want to know what file format does Vuforia support and any size limit to poly and the save file

thanks

FBX and OBJ are the formats that I would consider, if you are planning to use the Unity extension of Vuforia. See my previous reply.

I find many 3D models and some animated online.  they are usually in 3ds, c4d, max or obj format.  before i purchse them, i want to make sure i can integrate them with vuforia.

i'm not trying to create a game.  just a small demo like showing animated helichoper flying around a can.

thanks

No specific file format for the Vuforia Android Native SDK; the samples simply rely on plain OpenGL; the models used in the samples are basically a .h C++ representation of the vertex arrays of the meshes;

see also this article on how to integrate your own 3D models:

https://developer.vuforia.com/forum/faq/android-how-do-i-replace-teapot

however,

you may want to consider the Vuforia Unity Extension, as Unity allows loading 3D models in FBX, OBJ and a few other formats.
