Adapting UserDefinedTargets Activity to app

May 25, 2013 - 10:20am #1

Right now, I have created the content and functionality that I want from the UserDefinedTargets sample. I am now at the point where I need to start adapting the AR functionality to my application.

In a high level overview, my app has a bar of tabs on the top edge of my screen via tabhost and each tab displays a view that fills the screen (minus the tab. also this is all in landscape). I have a designated tab that I hope to initialize the AR. Is there anything I can do to control this QCAR initialization activity through a view  without having to pause the main activity and starting this one?

One thought I have though is that I can somehow merge the two activities. But, that would overcomplicate things I think (my main activity already has 1500 lines).

Adapting UserDefinedTargets Activity to app

Hi,

in Android, when you show/start a new activity, the previous one will get paused; this is a mechanism which cannot be changed (afaik).

Perhaps what you need to do is really to just merge the code so that it all works in the same activity.

As a side note: making things happen in the same activity does not mean that you have to keep the code all in the same class; you can split your projects in many classes and call methods from your Main activity class.... that's just a matter of good software design...
