Add more than two target in VideoPlayBack sample

December 27, 2012 - 5:17am #10

Hello Friends,

I am beginner for  Vuforia and I want to add more than 2 target for detection .But I can't found any way to do this. Please help me if anyone can do.

Thank You,

Hi iintegrator, have you

Hi iintegrator,

have you checked that this line of code is present in the _onQCARInitializedNative function (VideoPlayback.cpp):

That should enable the possibility of tracking two targets (each one with its own video); in the sample, the two targets correspond to Chips and Stones.

Hi AlessandroB, Thanks for

Hi AlessandroB,

Thanks for reply,

Can you tell me Maximum howmany number of target we can detect in vuforia ?please

Thank you,

The maximum number of targets

The maximum number of targets that can be active at runtime is 100. These may be in a single device database, or distributed across multiple active device databases. But you should do some testing to determine how many can be detected and tracked effectively in your app, and for the devices that you're targeting.   There is a computational cost to detecting for so many targets and this can impact performance on devices with less processing capacity. If you need to detect a lot of targets, consider using Cloud Recognition.

What David says is fully

What David says is fully correct.

Just as an additional note (just to avoid possible misunderstandings):

if you set  HINT_MAX_SIMULTANEOUS_IMAGE_TARGETS to 1 (one), you will only be able to track 1 target at a time;

this means that while Vuforia will still use ALL of your targets (up to 100) in your Datasets to try to match the target in your camera field of view, however at any given time it will only be able to track one single target (i.e. if you see two physical targets simultaneously in your camera view, only one of them will be tracked at any given time); that's why you need to increase HINT_MAX_SIMULTANEOUS_IMAGE_TARGETS to something higher than 1 if you want to have two targets (or more) simultaneously tracked.

I am able to detect 5 target but at 6th target detection app stop to work. Please solve bug. What is the reason of this?

Thank You,

Hi iintegrator,

so you are setting  QCAR::setHint( HINT_MAX_SIMULTANEOUS_IMAGE_TARGETS,  6 );  but you don't get more than 5 targets simultaneously, correct ?

you say the App stops working; do you observe that the 6th target is not detected but the App still keeps running showing 5 targets, or is the application crashing/exiting somehow ?

When i try to detect 6th target then camera stop and appliation crash .

Hi, the SDK should be able to

January 4, 2013 - 1:59am #2

Hi, the SDK should be able to handle up to 10 simultaneous targets in the same field of view; at worst I would expect that some of the targets are occasionally not detected when you go beyond 5, but a crash is not expected in such situation.

What is your application doing with the targets exactly ? is it still the videoplayback app that you're using ? if that's the case, it could be that you run out of memory because you're loading to many videos simultaneously into memory.

Hi Friends,

can any one share the code for adding more than two targets in videoPlayback sample and i want to run videos specific to the target detected in vuforia.

I am using android studio to run VideoPlayback sample.
