Add new image to Scan

I've tried to add an image and after scan show teapot 3d image, like ImageTarget sample.

I have a few question:

1) How can I start using vuforia sdk from scratch and not from one of the samples, is it possible?

2 ) How can I add new image, I have the dat file and the xml file from "My Trackables tag", but how can I integrate it with the project, I'm currently trying to add it to ImageTarget sample project?\
