App was not installed -android error msg

December 18, 2015 - 12:29am #1

Hello, I am using vuforia sdk v5.0.6 wth unity 5.1.1.

I imported the Vuforia-UserDefinedTargets sample scene, and exported as android project and I defined minimum android suport in unity layer inspector for android API 17 since I have 4.2.2 jely bean lenovo tablet.

I copied it onto my tablet and when I am trying to isntall the apk it gives me the error: "App not installed".

Now, while building the project it asks me for android sdk api 21 (android 5), is this suppoused to happen even when project should work on android 4.2?

Am I doing something wrong here?
Is there a solution for this?
I really need to get it to work on my 4.2.2 android lenovo tab s6000-H is there a way to get it to work or it doesn;t support this version?

The same problem happens to me when i was trying to install app in my tablet but i fixed it by using Lenovo S6000 Manual. In which following solutions are given to fix the error and i am sure that all these methods also helps you:

  • Reboot the phone: In times like this, first thing to do is to reboot your device. Or just shut down, remove and reinsert your battery.
  • Make sure to uninstall any apps you don’t use to free up space, also uninstall previous versions of the same app currently installed on your device.
  • Double check the apk files you download and be sure they were completely copied or downloaded.
  • Try resetting app permissions by going to Settings >Apps>All>Menu key >Reset application permissions or Reset app preferences.
  • Change app installation location to Automatic or Let system decide.
  • Make sure your SD card is not mounted or connected to a PC or elsewhere.
  • The last solution would be to totally wipe your device. Either by doing a factory reset under Settings or by doing a full wipe in recovery mode.

Verify that device is in developer mode with USB debugging enabled and accessible to adb using:

adb devices

adb install -r filename.apk
