Can I use sample apps?

October 22, 2014 - 10:48am #1

Hello.

I am a Computers Science student.

I want to use source code sample app to create an app. I want to create a free software app. I have no problem to use any free software license (and explain that I use Vuforia and refer the Vuforia's license).

Can I do this? I not want to do a commercial use and I haven't understand very well the license of Vuforia 3.0.

Thank you.

Ok. I think I have understand it.

I read this:

You acknowledge and agree that Your license to the Sample Code is conditioned upon You modifying the Sample Code such that Your software application contains material additional features and functionality; re-distribution of Sample Code without material improvement is not permitted.

If I improve a sample code... I understand I can use it in my app but... Can I use other license (GPL, MIT...) or I have to explain Vuforia's license?

Sorry for my English but I am from Spain and English is some difficult for me.

Thanks.

Many developers use the source in the sample apps as a starting point for developing their own apps. The license agreement says that the changes to the sample source code need to have "material additional features and functionality". See section 1.4  License to Sample Code:
