Client and Server Key Downloads in Unity

February 10, 2015 - 8:47am #1

I've uploaded a target and in most of the demps there is a download selected targets menu item in the taraget

gallery.  However I have to open my targeted image specifically and the download there is some sort of metadata file with server and client keys.  I'm not sure which of these keys goes in the reco prefab nor am I sure that this is the correct type of download.

I'm just getting started and none of the tutorials has helped thus far.

Yeah you sed something about the JAVA app but I'm not familiar with that. As for the beta portal, I'm just using the target management off the site but the download doesn't seem to work properly. I could try a lower version but that won't change the TM.

The Client Access Keys for a Cloud DB are what should be copied into the CloudReco prefab in Unity and are compiled in the app. The Server Access Keys are for using VWS API to upload and manage targets in a Cloud DB.

Are you using the Vuforia 3.0.9 SDK with your app or the new Vuforia 4.0 SDK Beta? The Vuforia 4.0 SDK Beta only supports Device DBs that are created in the Beta Portal.

When I download my target from the target manager it is a txt file with a server and client keys. I put thsee into my reco prefab in the inspector with my image targets shader texted with my image. I'm using free right now but when I port to android it asks for my license key.

Could you provide some more details on steps you are taking? Are you using the VWS API or the Target Manager? Is the problem with retrieving meta-data within the app itself when a Cloud target is recognized?

I'm just saying that in the video the download of the image is some kind of pkg while my download tends to be a txt file of some sort.

It is normal that targets appear as list in a Cloud DB. At present, the Device DB targets will display as larger thumbnails in a grid, but in the 4.0 Beta Portal, they display as a list similar to Cloud DB targets. Uploading meta-data for a target is optional. The meta-data can be user-defined (i.e. text, binary, etc.).

I think I am having a problem downloading the target. My targets appear as a list not a gallery and when I upload them it asks me for something called the metadata?

The Client Access Keys must be copied into the app. The Server Access Keys are for use with the VWS API to upload and manage your targets in your Cloud DB. You can try out our Java or PHP sample apps that demonstrate how to access the VWS API.
