Dark camera feed on android

Hi,

I'm not sure if it's a new problem or simply the same as some people experience ( the black screen ). Anyway, I tried some of the fixes but none give results. Now I started to think maybe it's something new.

I attached a screenshot.

As you can see in the pic (dont mind the red rectangle), the screen is bright enough but everything else is very dark. so dark that image-targets cant be tracked. I tried to show the same target the desktop screen and it work fine (bright enough).

situation 1 : UnityEditor + webcam = brightness fine

situation 2 : Built for nexus 5 = too dark

situation 3 : using the camera for taking simpe pictures = brightness fine

So the main question, is it somehting new? And Hope I am not the only one :)

Hi,

Did you manage to get a fix to this dark screen issue? I seem to be facing the same on most Samsung devices where the native camera screen is bright; however, the vuforia camera is dark.

Any help as to how you went about solving this issue if you did would be great.

Please note that there is another thread regarding Android dark camera previews and potential workarounds:

An important thing to note is that Vuforia has limited control over the performance and quality of frames that are captured from the device camera pipeline. For example, we do not adjust a devices AE settings. Instead, we leave this up to the OEM's implementation per device, which introduces fragmentation that manifests itself when running apps where Vuforia is integrated.

Vuforia 6 has introduced the Advanced Camera API which allows for additional access to Android camera settings, such as AE. Perhaps this can be experimented with on this platform to find a setting that is most suitable.

Not fixed  on Samsung TAB S2 running Android 6.01, using the Vuforia Unity 6.2-10 plugin.

This is a showstopper for an app I am developing. Does anyone have a solution?

Hello,

We finally received a Ulefone Power running Android 6.0. I was not able to replicate the dark camera preview as observed by others.

The camera preview when running the Vuforia 6.2.10 sample app looks to be exactly the same as the native camera.
