Apologies, but we don't have a migration guide for such a large jump in SDK version. All I can offer you is the following:

https://developer.vuforia.com/library//articles/Solution/How-To-Migrate-Your-Existing-Apps

At the end of the article is a how-to for migrating to Vuforia 4, which introduced the license manager and a new class structure:

https://developer.vuforia.com/library/articles/Solution/Vuforia-40-Migration

Good luck.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I don't know the steps to upgrade from 2.6 to 5.5. If you provide some link to upgrade , I will go through it. And the latest version of Vuforia library(.so file) is 10+MB. So if I develop my application with latest version of SDK, my application size will also increase.

So I just thought of using 2.6/2.8 Version of Vuforia SDK.

Device databases recently downloaded from the developer portal are no longer compatible with Vuforia 2.6. You will have to upgrade to the latest version of Vuforia (5.5) to download device databases in the future.

Hi,

I am also facing same issues. Can you please suggest me the solution. i am usiing 2.6 Vuforia Library!

I  am failed to load new data sets . When I load  my old dataset(dat and xml)  it become activated and working perfectly with Videoplayback sample.

What is the solution to load the newly created datasets with VideoPlayBack Sample(Vuforia SDK Version & Sample: 2.6)

Ok, happy that you figured out the issue.

It was me I was the one that did it. I pasted a snippet I was working with in a previous sample project. Which broke the test to see if the dataset was loaded. To be more exact I had an if that should of been else.

After inspecting the .dat file it became clear why just changing the names in my target database to reflect the StonesAndChips target database yielded a failure as well.

I'm a bit surprised that ndk-build didn't error on either of these.

Yes It did not work in eclipse that i installed as per the directions in the documentation. It worked fine when editing and building in intellij though. It's funny though because it was working fine in eclipse.

It's a bit long winded to go through all the steps that rendered working/failing results. Suffice it to say it's working great in idea 12.

Have you tried with Eclipse ? That's the recommended IDE

I'm not sure what the issue was but it's working. I can't think of anything different between the failing project and the working one. With one honestlly quite major difference and one tiny one. But it seems like it shouldn't be an issue. The current working version was edited and built with intellij idea 12. While the previous failing one was edited and built with ADT. I also changed the name of one of the trackables from 6ix to six.

to answer your question yes I had downloaded the trackables not 20 minutes before I made the post. So right about 0:30 by this systems time.

What you need to do for such a case is to:

- put your dat and xml in your assets dir

- change the VideoPlayback.cpp code so to point to your dataset instead of ChipsAndStones

- rebuild the native sample code via ndk-build

- refresh your project in Eclipse

- run

If the original sample did compile, then you should also be able to compile with the new dataset.

A question: have you created the dataset recently ?

Failed to load dataset

November 7, 2013 - 12:48pm #10

I'm getting the error "Failed to load dataset" in the VideoPlayback sample after setting my own datastore. Both the dat and xml files are properly placed in the assets folder. Permissions are currently 0700 and I have also tried with 0777. In order to rule out any coding mistakes I have started with the default sample and changed the names of my dat and xml to StonesAndChips also appropriatly naming the two image targets inside the xml file. Deleting the application off the device and deleting the libs/, bin/, and obj/ directories did not help resolve this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Actually realised that I'd to set execute permissions for the XML and DAT file.

It worked after  `chmod 700 MyTarget.*`

Thanks!

Hi, I just tried creating a database with an image target using the current Target Manager, and importing it into the Image Targets sample of SDK 2-6-10, and it works fine.

I would recommend to read this tutorial and try again:

Hi  AlessandroB,

I'm facing the same problem. I updated the SDK to 2-6-10, and cleaned/ndk-build/build the application and run, however get the same error, failed to load dataset (for my own dataset downloaded from the targets page), whereas it works for the precompiled datasets. Any pointers? (I'm eclipse + android on ubuntu 12.04, testing on nexus 4)

Thanks!
