February 28, 2013 - 11:00pm #1

Hi all, i wanna try to show 3d object animated in my ImageTarget project with eclipse. I have been try ask to my friend  how to do that. He suggest me to try min3D as plugin in eclipse. But i'm not given an information to do that after it. I have visited this site to  load 3d object animated in android, but i'm still confuse about how to load it in my IT (http://www.mat-d.com/site/tutorial-load-a-3d-obj-model-with-min3d-for-android/).  So i ask this question to this forum. :D

My question is how can i add 3d object animated in my IT with eclipse ? is it have to use min3D plugin or what? hehe

thanks,

Warm Regards.

Mmh... this sounds weird.

I recall similar report in the past, but in that case the issue was only appearing when the device was oriented in Portrait (as the issue you describe sounds very much like an axis - swap issue);

anyway, if you search the Forum, you can find several instances of JPCT-ae integration (and there is also an online tutorial about that here:

http://www.jpct.net/wiki/index.php/Integrating_JPCT-AE_with_Vuforia

Have you tried both in PORTRAIT and in LANDSCAPE mode ? does landscape mode works fine, while you see the issue only in PORTRAIT ?

Hi,

 I have integrated the CloudReco with JPCT-AE and model is loading properly. But if I move the device up(target goes down on the screen) then the 3D object goes right, and move device down then the 3D object goes left.

Please let me know how could i solve this problem.

Thanks & Regards,

Prakash V

Hi, what you need to do is probably to define and use some variable in your code,

so to keep track of when a target is detected for the first time, and then conditionally execute the rendering code or not.

Hi AlessandroB,

Thanku for the reply, I can successfully load the 3d model in cloud reco scene now using jpct-ae.

only problem now is that when the camera view starts 3d model is already in scene, once the marker is detected it will be on marker.

3D model should only be rendered on marker detection and once marker is out of scene model should also hide.

I guess it has something to do with Cloudrecorenderer/mrenderer set to true by default somewhere, How can i change it?

I hope its not out of scope question.

Thanx

Hi, integrating JPCT wth CloudReco should be very similar to integrate it with ImageTargets;

the key aspect is always about sending the Pose matrix from C++ to Java, so to make it available to the engine in Java.

However I'm not aware of a tutorial specific for CloudReco;

also, we don't support JPCT officially; I was just mentioning it in my previous message because I have seen other developers using it in theis Forum.

Hi,

As per the tutorial I've successfully integrated Jpct-AE with image targets sample.

I want to integrate JPCT with cloud Reco sample, How can i do it? I followed the similar steps as for Image target but its not working.

can u plz tell me what are the things I should change in code? or is there any tutorial??

Yes, JPCT-ae is a complete 3D rendering engine, which will allow you to load and render 3D models (animated or not);

See also:

http://www.jpct.net/jpct-ae/

in particular, from the JPCT-ae web page I can read (among the other features listed):

  • loads 3DS, OBJ, MD2, ASC and serialized files
  • keyframe animations (from a MD2-file or self defined)
  • skeletal animations via raft's Bones API

thanks,

Warm regards.

Hi, We don't have any tutorials for merging Vuforia with 3rd party rendering engines at this time.

There is a Thread in this Forum already discussing it:

https://developer.vuforia.com/forum/rendering-opengl-es/integrating-min3d-qcardraw-custom-object-qcar

One user in that thread was able to successfully integrate it, so you may want to get in touch with him.

Also, another possible Java framework for rendering 3D models is JPCT-ae; there is a nice and detailed tutorial on how to integrate JPCT with Vuforia:

http://www.jpct.net/wiki/index.php/Integrating_JPCT-AE_with_Vuforia

HTH.
