I am wondering what approach can be used to determine multiple configurations for the same base object -- for example if you scanned a coffee cup could you tell if the top was on or off?
How to determine one object target with multiple configurations / variations
This can be done based on your use case, but will have some issues associated with it. Object Targets are tracked based on the features of the object scanned in. In the case of the coffee cup with the top on or off, the only place with different features would be top. Since the rest of the cup would all be the same, either of the two versions of the object could be detected.
Our upcoming feature Model Targets will use the geometric data of the model to do the tracking and detection. This feature may be able to provide you with the functionality you are looking for.
