Integrate Cloud Database with my android app

June 4, 2013 - 3:48am #1

How I can integrate the Cloud database with my Android app, without using the CloudReco Sample, to start scanning and recognizing Targets?

I would like to develop this integration in a simplest way.

Hi David,

Great. This is the most convenient to utilize the Vuforia Cloud Database.

I will develop the App based on the CloudReco Sample and follow the legal considerations.

Thanks & Regards,

Mostafa

Yes you can re-use the samples in that way. Be sure to review the legal considerations..

and Logo usage guidelines, if you intend to incorporate Vuforia logos - https://developer.vuforia.com/resources/dev-guide/branding-guidelines

Hi Alessandro,

Really, writting an app from scratch would be very difficult for me. So, is it possible to modify the CloudReco sample app and let users to download it for free? However, they will be charged on uploading targets to the Vuforia Cloud database.

Appreciate your help. Thanks

Regards,

Mostafa

Hi, we don't have a complete tutorial on how to build a cloudReco app from scratch;

however, we do have a tutorial explaning step-by-step how to enable the CloudReco functionalities on top of our Image Targets sample:

https://developer.vuforia.com/forum/faq/android-how-integrate-cloudreco-imagetargets-sample

the advantage of this tutorial is that the Image Targets sample is rather simple (compared to the CR sample) and as such it is a very good starting point;

so, you could start your application by first cloning the Image Targets sample, and then following the tutorial above so to add the minimal amount of code required to enable Cloud reco;

then, you should be able to modify the code to adjust it to your specific needs and keep building your application on top of it.

I hope this helps.
