Is it possible to look around the augmented 3D object using Vuforia?

January 12, 2018 - 10:23am #1

I have created user defined target at runtime and it shows 3D object in particular place with extended tracking.But If I go back to the object it hides(as the target image not available).Is it possible to look around the augmented 3D object using Vuforia?

Hi @Strasza,

Currently I am adding my 3D object as child of ImageTarget in UDTEventHandler.cs update method(one time only). Can I add 3D object outside the ImageTarget? So my object independent of ImageTarget.

Hi

    Actually I am trying to do like markerless AR like ARCore and ARKit working now. I need to place object on Real world and need to look around the object. I know Vuforia doesnot supports without any image target. Also It supports only Ground plane on limited devices. So i am trying use UDT to simulate like this. Now I place object parallel to UDT,thats why I am not able to go behind the 3D object,may be if place perpendicular to UDT I can look around the object. But In real time,we need to place marker on ground,not stick on wall.Is it any other way to resolve this?

Important:

2) Why the 3D object place changed continuosly,it is not stable.After some time it sticks on same place.am I doing wrong anything in Vuforia configuration?(See PREVIOUS POST VIDEO)

3) I am using Unity 2017.3.1 with plus license.But inbetween splash screen and first scene black screen shows for around 15 secs.When I see the log,it shows Vuforia initialization,UDT target scanning operations are doing.Once target found,it shows camera preview.Why black screen shows before ARCamera preview launches?.It occurs only on exported Android Code.Is it possible to avoid this black screen on exported android code?

Hello,

It is unclear to me based on that video what you are using as the UDT. It looks like you might be trying to rotate underneath the image, if this is the case this will likely not work any better than you are currently seeing.

Hi,

   I have uploaded my app video on following link, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtBLxTlXYPM&feature=youtu.be

UDTEventHandler.cs

void Update()

{

   if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(mType))

        {

            if(currentObject == null)

            {

                GameObject object3D = Resources.Load("Icon "+mType) as GameObject;

                GameObject objectInstance = Instantiate(object3D) as GameObject;

                Renderer renderer = objectInstance.GetComponent<Renderer>();

                renderer.material.mainTexture = Resources.Load(mType + "_texture") as Texture;

                GameObject userDefinedTargetObject = GameObject.Find("UserDefinedTarget");

                objectInstance.transform.parent = userDefinedTargetObject.transform;

                if (mType.Equals("03"))

                {

                    objectInstance.transform.Rotate(Vector3.right, -180, Space.Self); // X Axis

                    objectInstance.transform.Rotate(Vector3.up, 90, Space.Self); // Y Axis

                    objectInstance.transform.Rotate(Vector3.forward, 0, Space.Self); // Z Axis

                }

                else

                {

                    objectInstance.transform.Rotate(Vector3.right, 45, Space.Self); // X Axis

                    //objectInstance.transform.Rotate(Vector3.up, 45, Space.Self); // Y Axis

                    objectInstance.transform.Rotate(Vector3.forward, 270, Space.Self); // Z Axis

                }

                if ((SystemInfo.deviceModel == "LGE Nexus 5X")|| (SystemInfo.deviceModel == "Nexus 5X"))

                {

                    objectInstance.transform.Rotate(Vector3.right, 180, Space.Self);

                }

                currentObject = objectInstance;

            }

        }

}

1) 3D object placed once High or Medium quality frame detected,but If I try to look around object,it is also moves.I am not able to look around the object like iOS ARKit.

2) Also the 3D object shakes continuosly,not stable.

3) I am Unity 2017.3.0p2 with plus license and disabled splash screen,but still black screen shows for around 15 secs on start up

How to resolve these issues,I am trying to these issues for 1 month.But still no improvement.

Could you provide some screenshots or video of the issue you are experiencing?

It is possible to add a 3D object as soon as you start the camera, but it won't be anchored to anything in the world without having a target to attach it to.

Hello rramprasad,

Could you share a screenshot of when you are losing the augmentation?
