hi all,

am trying to use the armarker for showing a engagement ring on someones finger.. the app works fine if the marker is big enough .. but i am trying to make a wearable marker on the finger and display a ring model.

the ring floats above the finger, the finger has to go around it...

can someone plz point me in the right direction? has anyone tried this before?

regards
carloz

This is quite weird when you think about it.

Because the virtual object is actually a 2D representation of a 3D object and that it is virtual by nature you can't set it to just go around a finger.
It will always be above the finger.

For example, take the teapot sample. If you gave it an arbitrary negative location on the z-axis you'd expect it to be rendered behind (hidden by) the trackable or partially occluded by the trackable but its not because you're still rendering the whole object.

I guess if you're looking down on the ring while on a finger you want the bottom of the ring to not be rendered so it looks like its behind the finger.
From the side, you'll want to not render the far side to again look like it's behind the finger.

As a test try a semi-circular ring e.g. the bottom half missing, give it a negative z transform and see if that's the kind of effect you want.

I think there is some support for this using Vuforia, I have not looked at it in great detail.
Try looking at the OcclusionManagement sample although my guess would be this only works for simpler shapes.
