Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro - Stretched Camera Feed

November 24, 2014 - 1:33pm #1

The camera feed appears stretched on the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro (similar to past issues with Galaxy s3).  This was not an issue with older version of Vuforia, but persists with the latest.  I've reproduced with the 3.0.9 samples, and haven't been able to resolve with the usual install/re-install/force-close and reboot attempts.

Can someone from Qualcomm update the device profile?

Here are my device information:

Model number - Yoga Tablet 2 Pro-1380L

Android Version - 4.4.2

Kernel Version - 3.10.20-gd781e91

Build Number - YOGATablet2-1380L_S116_140707

Software Version - YOGA Tablet 2 Pro-1380L_140707

Hardware Version - LenovoPad YOGA Tablet 2 Pro-1380L

Thanks!

UPDATE:

issue should be resolved now.

Could you (with Internet connection ON):

- uninstall the APP

- reinstall the APP

- launch the APP

And confirm if the camera image looks OK ?

Also, if it does not appear correct on the first run, could you try to force quit the Appa nd restart it again a second time ?

This regression persists on the retail version of the device.  Do you have an ETA for a fix?

Thanks,

Thanks for your response.

I have tried explicitly setting both speed and quality modes; neither seems to impact the stretching.

Note, this particular device is a pre-release version of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro.  I'm not sure if the k matrix is different between this version and the retail one.  We are still waiting on shipping for the retail version of this device to confirm.

That being said, there is a very clear regression between the version of Vuforia we were using, and the latest available now.  So I suspect it's something that can be fixed on your end.

In the meantime, could you try selecting Camera Mode MODE_OPTIMIZE_SPEED and see if it makes any difference ?

This can be done in the code that starts the camera; right before calling CameraDevice.getInstance().start(), you can call:

CameraDevice.getInstance().selectVideoMode(
            CameraDevice.MODE.MODE_OPTIMIZE_SPEED)
