"libVuforia.so could not be loaded" on Samsung Galaxy S5

December 26, 2014 - 10:00am #1

I compiled the Vuforia Samples app (vuforia sdk 3.0.9) on Eclipse and am trying to run it on my Samsung Galaxy S5 (Android 4.4.2 on Snapdragon 801). The app opens up fine till I hit the "Start" button in any of the sample options. On clicking Start the brings up a white screen, twice, and then goes back to the main menu. It looks as if it tries to start the camera but it is not able to do so.

I get a whole bunch of errors on my LogCat output. "The library libVuforia.so could not be loaded" looks like the main culprit to me, I am not sure though. The size of the apk is around 7MB, which tells me that the library is 'attached' with it.

Can't really figure out what's going wrong here. Attached is the screenshot of the logcat and error loog text file. Any help shall be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards

"libVuforia.so could not be loaded" on Samsung Galaxy S5

Hi, this error message is reatively common, and it's probably not related to the specific device (S5 in your case).

It probably means that the libVuforia.so is not pakcaged with the APK, perhaps because the library has not been copied to the right location in the project.

You can check whether the libVuforia.so file is present under the "/ libs / armeabi-v7a / " folder under your sample project directory. If not, you can simply copy the libVuforia.so file from the " /build / lib / armeabi-v7a " folder under your Vuforia installation directory to the / libs / armeabi-v7a folder under your sample project dir.

In addition, also make sure to:

  1. Right-click the project, and select Properties > Java Build Path > Order and Export.
  2. Activate the checkbox next to the Vuforia JAR file.
  3. Close the project properties.
  4. Clean and rebuild the project.
