object is not rendering over real model target

February 21, 2019 - 4:13am #1

While using sample project's dataset , it perfectly renders the object over image target or model target. But when I use my own created dataset ( from developer portal -> target manager -> add database -> add single image -> add) , it doesn't render anything. But ,TrackableResultList  shows the object is detected from its size.

-->sample dataset for image target is having .dat,.xml,.txt files

-->sample dataset for model target is having .dat,.xml,.v3d files

-->my dataset for image n model target is only having .dat,.xml files

What should i do to  render something over the real 3d object?

Hello,

I am already using the vuforia license key into my project. what else I can do ?

And the device is loading dataset and also detecting the real 3d object. The issue is only that it doesn't draw anything over detected 3d object.

I am stuck with this issue since more than 20 days.

Please help me out to get read of this issue.

Hello,

I'm guessing that the device database is failing to load due to a missing Vuforia license key.

I suggest that you create a free Development license key on the Vuforia Developer Portal. Copy the license key string into the following field: ARCamera->Open Vuforia Engine configuration->App License Key. It only needs to be done for a single ARCamera instance.

You can also look to Vuforia logs for more information:

$ adb logcat AR:D Unity:D *:S

Hello,

Thanks for the guidelines. But still facing the same issue.

Now I have created dataset as per your given guidelines. In model target generator desktop application, I have added .obj file of my 3d object. I have attatched here the generated dataset named as super_snacker.zip.

from this dataset I am taking .dat and .xml file and replacing with vuforia sample model target example's VuforiaMars_ModelTarget.dat and VuforiaMars_ModelTarget.xml files . Keeping All other code same as the sample code shows. Not changing lander.v3d file as well which has been used to load v3d model, because I am not having any other v3d file for my 3d object.

While I run this app, scan my super snacker 3d model, It detects the model. But still it doesn't draw anything over it.

I also have attached the model_target.zip file which contains the code I am using to detect real 3d object n draw image over it.

What should I do to resolve this issue?

Apologies for the mistake.

I believe you have mistaken the Object Scanner tool as being compatible with Model Targets. The device database generated using the .OD file cannot be loaded as a Model Target.

Model Target device databases *must* be created with the Model Target Generator tool:

Hello,

I am developing my app using android studio. The shown guidelines are of Unity.

I have scanned my 3d object using vuforia scanner app and in return I got .od file. Then I have created a database --> added target as 3d object --> inserted .od file. In return I got .dat and .xml file.

Now I am only replacing these .dat and .xml files with model target example's .dat and .xml files of vuforia sample demo (android studio). I am not changing the sample's lander.v3d file as I don't have any .v3d file for my project.

While running this app, it detects the 3d object but not rendering any image over it.

What should I do to solve my rendering issue in android studio.?

Hello,

You can find a mesh as output by the Model Target generator. One is a GLTF in Ascii format (".gltf"), along with binary asset files (".bin"). These assets are *not* included in the Model Targets device database. It is up to you to package it with your project/app.

Please see https://library.vuforia.com/content/vuforia-library/en/articles/Solution/introduction-model-targets-unity.html for more information.
