Picture instead of Camera Feed

Hello!

I'm looking for a way to work with a single picture and not the android camera feed. I scoured the dev guides but I couldn't find a way to make it work. Is this even possible?

Background: I'm currently writing an app centered around editing AR elements (position, rotation, etc). However, this becomes quite a chore if you have to hold the camera steadily centered on one point during the whole editing process. So I figured it would be a lot easier for a user to fotograph the desired location (including marker of course) and then work with the picture instead.

I would guess that same applies to still images too - they are not currently supported.
