Resolution of image used in Android

October 24, 2016 - 8:14pm #1

What determines the resolution of the image used for tracking? Does the resolution depend on the camera's resolution or the screen resolution or other factor? Will using a 8 Mega Pixels camera produce a better tracking result than a 2 Mega Pixels camera?

Thanks

The resolution of the Vuforia camera feed is not determined by the native resolution capabilities of the device, but by the device profile setting for that device with Vuforia.

If using Unity for instance, use this code to find dimensions of the quality preset:

VideoModeData vmd;
vmd = CameraDevice.Instance.GetVideoMode(CameraDevice.CameraDeviceMode.MODE_OPTIMIZE_QUALITY);
Debug.Log("Dimensions: " + vmd.width + "x" + vmd.height);
