Split APK and AR stops working

November 29, 2016 - 3:14am #1

I have a unity 5.5 / vufloria 6 app working great with xml and dat databases however as I need to upload it to the google play store I need split into an APK and OBB files as it is over 100mb. I have done this using Unity’s split option however the app no longer loads the resources, I assume this is because I now need to load the xml and dat from the external source (sdcard).

I looked at the Vufloria FAQ https://developer.vuforia.com/forum/faq/unity-how-can-i-handle-large-android-apps

However the page is incomplete and is missing the final code example ?

I think I need to load the resources using the www method something like:

public class LoadingStuff : MonoBehaviour {

    public string url = "Application.streamingAssetsPath + "/QCAR/" + dataset_xml_filename / dataset_dat_filename";

    IEnumerator Start() {

        WWW www = new WWW(url);

        yield return www;

        someVar = www.bytes;

And then it seems to suggest copying the files to the SD card, however I assume Unity’s split option handles this and I have no clue where to indicate the STORAGE_ABSOLUTE option. Am really stuck on this at the moment, any help much appreciated.

So I am unclear on how to use the www method to load the now split files and how to set the STORAGE_ABSOLUTE option.

Best regards

Is Vuforia in the first scene that is loaded? Try moving Vuforia to scene that requires user to press button to load. Wait for 5-10 seconds before pressing the button to give Unity time to load the OBB files. Try this and see if it works.

Is it possible to get a coding example on this? As I mentioned before, the example in the FAQ are missing
