Suppress logs

February 27, 2013 - 12:43am #6

Once i open camera view i see 2 logs filling my logcate. These are

02-27 16:30:51.999: I/Camera(17934): handleMessage: 16
02-27 16:30:51.954: D/NativeCrypto(17934):  some ssl related messages
These logs are continuous because of which i am not able to see my other logs.
Is there a way i can suppress these
i am using version 1.5.9
I am getting this with all sample apps.

Hi, if you are displaying the logcat in Eclipse, you can define a filter and specify a tag in the "By Log Tag" field;

if you are just displaying the logs in the console (using adb logcat), you can filter with something like:

adb logcat ActivityManager:I MyApplication:D *:S

which means that logcat will only show the messages which are Debug (D) or higher (Error) from MyApplication, plus the messages that come from the ActivityManager which are Info (I) or higher; the *:S part tells logcat to make all other messages Silent (S = Silent)

you can change those settings to adjust to your needs; for instance, if you only want to show Error messages for MyApplication you could type:

adb logcat ActivityManager:I MyApp:E *:S

For QCAR samples, what I typically use is:

adb logcat QCAR:D *:S

You're welcome.

You cannot permanently suppress, you need to find and apply the most approproate filters (either in Eclipse or in adb as you did).
