Unity and Eclipse...

August 20, 2012 - 8:52am #1

Hi all

I am sorry for this "noob" question (not my first...^^)...on my right hand i am able to compile/export/run an apk from Unity without any problems, for imagetarget/multi/etc, with touch, GUI, etc.......on my left hand i am able to compile/export/run an apk from Eclipse (simple but it works) but after i read posts and posts i am still unable to make the link between unity and eclipse ....

For exemple i built a project in Unity (which works) AND in Eclipse i built a simple application (a web-apps) .... but i really don't know / understand how import Unity project in Eclipse in order to compile full apk....i just want add AR experience in it....

...for information i am more graphist than developper, even if i learned a lot these last weeks...

so...please.....HELPPPP

thanks a lot

Nevermind my earlier comment, the solution is right here (put together by the plug-in author himself):

$25 well spent I'd say.  :)

So far I've been unable to get a Unity/Vuforia project to run correctly after integrating it with Eclipse. I've followed the instructions from this thread, except that I didn't start with the ImageTargets project, as I'd already built a fairly complex scene prior to reading that. Also, could one of you guys look at this (apparently great) $25 plug-in from the Asset Store? http://u3d.as/content/appjigger-studios/unity2eclipse/3jT I've bought it and it seems to work well for anything except a Vuforia based project. Maybe you guys could figure out how to make simplified instructions with this plug-in + a couple tweaks to make it Vuforia friendly? Thanks.

Edit: To clarify, if I build using that plug-in, I can get the app to run, but it doesn't show the camera feed (I believe it's missing critical QCAR .jar files when just using the plug-in.  If I try to build the Unity/Eclipse Frankenproject by hand using the instructions here (or elsewhere), I always wind up with an app that won't run at all ("Unfortunately, APPNAME, has stopped") or whatever the generic crash message on Android is.  (can you tell I'm really an iOS guy?)

i'm using the documentation, but when I run the integrate project it doesn´t work.

I change the manifest, because i though that was the reason, but it didn't work

You're right. It looks like they've revised their documentation URLs. Try here - http://www.rbcafe.com/Softwares/Unity/Documentation/Manual/Android-Integrating%20Unity%20With%20Eclipse.html

  1. Start with the Unity ImageTargets sample and follow this guide: http://unity3d.com/support/documentation/Manual/Android-Integrating%20Unity%20With%20Eclipse.html. You can skip the last section (Getting Your Unity Content Running) for now.
  2. Add QCAR.jar and QCARUnityPlayer.jar to the Java Build Path of your custom Android project. These are found in the StagingArea/plugins folder.
  3. Copy the StagingArea/raw/QCAR folder to the assets folder of your custom Android project.
  4. Copy the AndroidManifest.xml file from the StagingArea project to your custom Android project.
  5. Run your custom Android project. You should see the camera background and tracking should work.
