Creating Area Target from e57 scan with ATG 9.8.8 fails

May 15, 2021 - 2:33am #4

Hello.

I just created an e75 file and want to create an area target out of it and the ATG 9.8.8 failed with the following message:

E57 processing: Reading of the E57 file failed. The path to the E57 file might be wrong or the file might be corrupted. Failure was: "E57 element path well formed but not defined (E57_ERROR_PATH_UNDEFINED)"

I already tried a smaller scan file but result was the same.

Does anyone has an idea?

I tried to use this as an alternative to the VuforiaAreaTarget Scanner for my Ipad because i have a few troubles with it.

See the attached picture for more information.

Thank you

Matthias

Hi,

We support only following scanners:

  • ARKit enabled devices with inbuilt LiDAR sensors,
  • Matterport™ Pro2 3D camera,
  • NavVis M6 and VLX scanners, and
  • Leica BLK360 and RTC360 scanners

For NaVis and Leica we support the e57 formataccording to the ASTM E2807standard.

Could you please confirm which scanner you used?

Thank you.

Hello,

I used my iPad Pro 2020 11" with the LiDAR scanner and the "3d Scanner App" developed by Laan Labs.

Thank you.

Hi,

I would advise to use our vuforia target creator app with the ipad lidar scanner for Area Target generation. https://library.vuforia.com/features/environments/area-targets/creator-app.html

We have strict requirements for the e57 and usually there is some missing information like for example panoramas.

Thank you for your understanding.
