Hide the image target on phone? Unity/Vuforia

May 24, 2021 - 3:33am #1

Hello,

I'm a beginner to Unity and have a problem that I've been trying to solve for several weeks.

I would like to hide the target image like on this .gif (example made on Photoshop):

I thought of superimposing on a "layer" the part just below the logo. I tried by following this tutorial (https://youtu.be/Goqe5IorfN0) but the camera doesn't have access to the phone camera, we can see the Unity scene inside the plane. Do you know how I can put the phone camera on the plane texture ?

I would like to put a plane on the target image with a texture that broadcasts the video from the phone.

Here is another example of what I would like to do: https://youtu.be/f5bjhxO4JZQ.

Do you know how I can solving this problem please? Do you have a better solution to hide the target image?

Thank you in advance for your help !

Hello Roland,

Thanks for your answer, maybe I was not clear enough in my request.

The purpose of my mobile app would be to erase / hide / remove the logo on a t-shirt. My idea was to take the principle of Photoshop's stamp tool, and project on the RenderTexture of a plane (like the blue rectangle) the area below the logo on the t-shirt and position it above the target image. As I show on the gif, the Adidas logo would be my image target and the blue rectangle the plane on the image target:

I would like to do it again as in this tutorial (https://youtu.be/Goqe5IorfN0) but it does not work with the AR camera, do you know how to create another camera which also follows the movements of the phone for example?

Thank you for your response,

Felix

may be here one additional info about the World Center Mode

DEVICE - The camera now moves if the device tracker is enabled. If the device tracker is not enabled, the camera will stay fixed at the last position. Targets always moves in this mode.

FIRST_TARGET / SPECIFIC_TARGET - The first Target or the specified target will be at the last position and not move

If your experience uses physics or otherwise requires a GameObject to remain static for performance reasons, consider using SPECIFIC_TARGET.

I am not sure if I understand correctly your issue .

Therefore I will mention here some points , possibly they helps . If not then please , let me know.

Regarding to the point "Do you know how I can put the phone camera on the plane texture ?" and hide ( here possibly meant to  overlay it with augmentation object e.g. a Canvas where a video is playing)

As mentioned in the article Image Targets (also videos demonstrating creation of the image targets)  we have 2 reference coordinate systems - one of your camera  where the position and orientation of the view point is defined by your device(position and orientation of your Device /AR camera - assuming your deleted the standard camera and added an AR camera - available when you loaded Vuforia Engine assets).  The second  reference is the position and orientation of the Image Target. So when there is child augmentation  of it which overlays the image - so far I know it will overlay  the image Target and you will see in this case the augmentation - which is child object of your Image Target. Here is an YouTube  AR Tutorial where the basic steps are shown. There we can see that video shown on 3d Quad object will overlay the target (there it is normal to the target but it demonstrates the principle)
