Cloud Reco - How do I use my Cloud Database with the sample doesn't work

July 24, 2013 - 5:17am #1

I have tried following steps for using my cloud db, but did'nt work, am I missing something? Please suggest.
1.click on one of your uploaded image targets and upload a metadata text file (that you create beforehand, for instance create a simple text file and call it my_metadata.txt) containing this line of text:
•samplebook1.json
2.take note of the client access and secret keys of your database (pay attention to use the client keys, and not the server ones)
3.use them to replace the current keys in CloudReco.h
4.recompile (using ndk-build) the sample and run it

Hi, the JSON DB is just a sample-specific database used for illustrative purposes (i.e. just for the sample), but it is not part of the Cloud Reco feature; and you are not allowed to modify it.

You can implement your own DB and put it at a network location of your choice.

But the implementation of this part is up to you.

I would like to customize the json name used in metadata file, for this where should i add the content of my custom json details. Please provide me steps for adding content to JSON DB.

Thanks in Advance

Happy to hear that it now works.

Concerning the metadata:

if you put:

samplebook1.json

in the metadata, then the sample app will read that string and will connect to the JSON database to retrieve the Json data for the specific book and build the book cover texture.

That should just work out-of-the-box.

Target is rated with single star, does it matter?

yes, it does!

The star rating goes from 0 to 5 stars; the higher the better; if you only get 1 star, it will be hard to detect your target; you should try to increase your star rating by enhancing your image, as explained here:

One note: after updating an image target, you need to wait that the status gets to Active;  this can take several minutes, so, please first wait until your targets become active (you can check the status in the Target Manager)

Hi, are you sure you have out his text (and exactly this) in the metadata:

samplebook1.json

?

Also, what is the star rating of your targets ?
