Hello, I am creating an application for a catalog, and with the cloud I can change targets without updating the application, but what about the 3D models?

can I stock the models on the cloud too?

Thanks

What errors are you seeing and have you run the CheckPHPEnvironment script to confirm that you are able to host PHP apps on your server?

Have you installed the HTTP_Request2 libraries?

PHP VWS Samples using HTTP_Request2

Requires :

(PHP 5 >= 5.2.0, PECL json >= 1.2.0) for JSON support.

HTTP_Request2

Installation:

JSON encoding and decoding are supported natively for PHP versions 5.2+
Prior PHP versions can use the JSON extension here - http://pecl.php.net/package/json

HTTP_Request2 is a PEAR package that can be installed from a command line.

pear install HTTP_Request2

Pyrus Install

php pyrus.phar install pear/HTTP_Request2

Usage:

You will need to add our Cloud Database access and secret key to each sample, along with a target id for those queries requiring one.
After the keys have been added, you can execute the sample classes from the SampleSelector.php page, by loading this page in a browser.
The samples and SampleSelector pages should be hosted on a web server that is configured to handle PHP requests. The CheckPHPEnvironment
page can be used to review your PHP installation along with its available extensions.

Thank you I appreciate your help.. I am new to unity that's why I am asking a lot and looking for video tutorial to follow but couldn't find a tutorial demonstrating how to get a model from a url

I'd recommend using AssetBundles to retrieve a model from an URL - you can use Unity's WWW class.

Thank you very much for your answer.. how can I download the 3d model and display it using its url?

Hi, Yes you can store the 3d models on your server . All depends what you put in your metadata file. This is what we've done with our solution.

Thanks

The SimpleRecoEventHandler.cs file is not part of the sample code; it is shown in the video tutorial just as an example of a custom way of implementing your own cloud event handler.

I can't find the file simplerecoeventhadler (see attached file)

should I modify the OnNewSearchResult in the CloudRecoEventHandler file to retrieve the metadata?

(I added Debug.Log("Some string") but it didn't print in the log file)

same problem with me, when i import script SimpleRecoEventHandler its getting error

The Cloud Reco sample shows how to retrieve metadata.

The API to use is here:

https://developer.vuforia.com/resources/api/unity/struct_target_finder_1_1_target_search_result

How can I retrieve the metadata? is there an example?

Thank you very much for your assistance, I hope it works.. I will try

Yes, it should work.

Basically you could take an arbitrary file (e.g. an image, a 3d model, or another binary file) and convert it to txt (change extension) so that it will be interpreted as text (although the actual content may be binary or a specific format, such as xml, or other...).

This will allow uploading the file, so that it gets stored in the metadata on the cloud.

Then, when your application will recognize a target, you will be able to retrieve your metadata (i.e. your 3d model file content) basically as a big text string.

No I didn't, if I change the file extension to txt it works?

Cloud Recognition

Metadata interpret content as text; however you can use it for any purpose.

Have you tried renaming your file to txt ?

Cloud Recognition

I tried to add the 3D Model but I got an error saying "invalid file format, only txt allowed"

I think I should upload a txt file containing the url of the model, right?

If the size of the 3D model file is within 1MB, you could store the model in the metadata associated to each cloud target.
