cloud recognition on periodically updated apps

December 6, 2013 - 4:59am #1

Hi, im working on some home appliances industry, i really interested on vuforia cloud recognition and following the video tutorial etc...i want to build an apps to change my monthly catalogue to apps based on vuforia cloud recognition... what i want to know is..

1. when i want to add some new 3d models in my next month updates and delete some old models , should  i update my apps ? or is there a way to just "store" the models in vuforia cloud recognition and just delete and add new models without updating my apps ?

2. related to my 1st question, i may have many models in my apps... and i think my apps size will big because it's assets. is that will affect my apps ? because i plan to make my apps on mobile devices and share it so the customer can download it. so it will be a problem if my apps have so many model on it, is there any better solution to this ? or i can just only make "cloud" my image target, not the model for my "in-cloud" image target ?

sorry for my bad english, If my explanation is too unclear feel free to ask me for that, i'll explain it as simple as i can. any help is very handy for me

thanks :)

Hi, you may store your 3D models in the Metadata associated to each Cloud Target; however the maximum size of the model will be limited to the max size allowed for the metadata.

If you are developing in Unity, another possible approach is to use AssetBundles, store models on a server and download the 3D models at runtime.

You may want to see:
