Extended Tracking on iOS

June 25, 2019 - 1:03am #3

Hello there, I'm facing a issue with iOS devices. Shortly the extended tracking on iOS devices never lose the tracking.

On Android devices instead if you shakes the device a little you can loose the contact with the target and that is for me the right behavior.

I have the same configuration for both systems iOS and Android

Unity 2018.3.9

Vuforia 8.0.10

Track Device Pose Active

Tracking Mode Positional

World Center Mode FIRST_TARGET

Could some one help me figure out how to solve this issue, I need iOS to behave as Android.

The effect you're observing is likely related to Vuforia Fusion's use of ARKit on supported iOS devices. Vuforia Engine will utilize ARKit for Extended Tracking (aka Positional Device Tracker), and it is quite robust to motion. You may also observe similar behavior on ARCore supported devices.

Note that use of the Positional Device Tracker is required for the Ground Plane and Model Targets features. If you wish to disable this, and not benefit from robust platform tracking tech such as ARKit and ARCore, then you can disable these using Vuforia Engine APIs. Please refer to the following article (see Fusion APIs section): https://library.vuforia.com/content/vuforia-library/en/articles/Training/vuforia-fusion-article.html.
