Feature Recognition Assistance

January 16, 2014 - 7:43am #1

I have an App that utilizes Vuforia Cloud based Image target recognition.  The iOS and Android Apps are working great.  The only issue is that some of the images are having poor feature recognition ratings on the Target Manager website.  We are trying to establish a repeatable and reproducable clear set of requirements for the graphic artist, photographers, and marketing teams.  We shared your best practices but we need to better understand the strengths and limitations of what can be done with technology.

I have attached an image that received a zero star rating.

Can someone assist in telling me why there are no detectable features in this image, and maybe recommend standards for the images that go beyond what is currently posted in best practices.

Thanks in advance!

N,

Thanks!  I missed these links in my research.  This is exactly what I was looking for!

The main thing I can think of is low contrast, in that everything is of a light colour.

The best practices are shown here: https://developer.vuforia.com/resources/dev-guide/natural-features-and-rating

...and there are some image enhancement tips shown here https://developer.vuforia.com/resources/dev-guide/image-target-enhancement-tricks
