Target recognition works for part of the target image

June 10, 2014 - 11:32pm #1

Hi,

When launch our application (using cloud recognition), it scan & also recognize the part of the target image (half of the target).

We need the recognition only works for full target images only because we have different images with same features for top to center (i.e top to center same image and center to bottom different image) and we need to uniquely identify all.

Does it possible to scan the full target images only recognition will works?

How to achive this from our side ?

How to uniquely identify this kind of target images (top to center same image and center to bottom different image) ?

Thanks & Regards,

P.Uthaman

The Vuforia engine is designed to be able to recognize partial point sets of an image target. If you have images which share matching point sets in certain regions of the image, then Vuforia doesn't have a way to discern which image until unique features are encountered. The ideal solution would be to crop or adjust your images so that they contain largely unique features.

Possible Alternative: Depending on your application needs, Frame Marker targets (which are not stored in a device or cloud database) might be able to help. Frame Marker targets have border marks which need to be completely visible in order for a target to be recognized. You can experiment with the Frame Markers sample app to see the effect.
