Unauthenticated recognition access

April 24, 2015 - 7:43am #1

Hi guys,

We are developing an iOS app that will be using Vuforia for Cloud target recognition.

Ideally we don't want the images to have to pass through our server first, and for the customer to be able to directly access Vuforia to request recognition.

However, it seems to be that we'd have to embed our secret API keys in the iOS application to do this?

That generally seems like a bad idea for security.

Are there options for how to handle this?

Thank you!

Yep, I understand now, there's a separate set of client credential keys that are used by the SDK, and only the SDK can do cloud recognition, not the VWS API.

Thank you

The VWS API is intended for use by the developer to manage targets and it has a daily limit. If you implement the VWS calls into a public app, the limit could be reached and impact functionality. Note that a target uploaded to the VWS can take time to process and may not be immediately available.
