Vuforia android studio cloud recognition app is not working with my own cloud database

August 27, 2015 - 9:56pm #1

I read the cloud recognition guide for vuforia android sdk .I am using android studio. I uploaded my own image target on cloud databaseand I replaced client access and secret key as instructed and the app is recognising my databse as well(Becaus number of image recognitions keep increasing in image target stats after each time I run the sample app).But the problem is,the app is not displaying the augmented image that it is supposed to.When i change the client keys back to original,its working perfectly but not with my own.Please help me out with this.

Check out the Books sample. There you can see how to differentiate between targets and then with that you could render different augmentations. Specifically you would be looking for this else if block in Books.java:

} else if (statusCode == TargetFinder.UPDATE_RESULTS_AVAILABLE)

Thanks for the answer of the first question but please help me out with other one too which was "how to augment different models for different image targets present in the SAME cloud database?". :)

The main things you should keep an eye into is the actual scale of your model. Depending on the model you are using it may be huge or tiny. The target size is 247 because we choose to have the units to be milimeters but it can be anything. So what you want to do is to keep the model size and the target size similar, all this is not mandatory. Just think about the target if you set the width to be 1 then when we detect the target we would think the target is very very close in reality, if you set the actual size for instance 247 the distance will match the real world. You can see in Unity what I am talking about by changing the size of your target. You will see the camera closer when the size of the target is small.

It's working!Thanks for the assistance guys keep up the good work.I just have one more question - could you guys give some insights into how to configure the scaling of the image target and the augmented image or model in order to maintain the correct proportion and how to augment different models for different image targets present in the SAME cloud database?And yes,I was using the same teapot provided in the sample app I just want to know which factors I must keep in mind while scaling the augmented textures and image targets. :)

We tested with your stones target and the width you defined is 10, which is too small for what the sample app is expecting. The default stones target as defined in the default Cloud DB is a larger size at 147.

The verdict: You are inside your teapot, but can't see it since backfaces aren't rendered.

Turn on Extended Tracking (double-tap for menu), recognize the stones target, and slowly back away without losing the tracking and you will soon see your large teapot.

Have you tried to render the same teapot used in the sample using your target?

Try creating your target with width = 147 in your database, maybe it is a scaling problem. It may be also that it is so tiny that the near plane is clipping your augmentation for your target.
