image with appropriate aspect ratio

January 26, 2013 - 12:54am #1

Hi,

I have a problem when i want to upload my pictures onto a cuboid.

The sizes that i set for the cuboid from the target manager is:-

Length: 1500

Width: 1200

Height: 500

The sizes that i set for my images from my files to be uploaded is:-

Length: 1500 pixel

Width: 1200 pixel

Height: 500 pixel

But everytime i try to upload it always says "Please provide an image with appropriate aspect ratio."

Is it because the size is not in Pixels? if not what unit should i use?

the other question is that when i want to add into my unity, should i use "Image Target" to create the box? or which one should i use?

Your feedback is highly appreciated.

I would recommend checking if your aspect is rotated the wrong way first. The aspect isn't just about where the object is. Just try rotating first before getting angry at the aspect ratio (switchnig the length and width). There is some give to it I'm pretty sure. If not, refresh your program and re-save the files and check their aspects again.

Hello @MoocARAF,

All targets must use dimensions of meters.

Thanks,

What are the dimensions of the image to be uploaded..?

Is it in meters or centi-meters or millimeters???

Hi, the images that you upload must simply respect the "aspect ratio" imposed by the cuboid dimensions;

if your cuboid has Width = 1200 and Height = 500, this means that the Front face will need to have an aspect ratio = 1200 / 500 = 2.4 ;

this means that an image which is 1200 by 500 pikels is OK as Front face (and Back face as well), but also an image which is for instance 600 by 250 (same aspect ratio, since 600 / 250 = 1200 / 500 = 2.4 ), etc.

For your Unity question, please have a look at the MultiTarget sample (look at the gameobjects and prefabs used there, it will help you clarify how cuboids are used).
