Image Target Appears Low Resolution

I have been creating my own image targets in Vuforia and Unity and have had some success.

The target image that I am working with now seems to lose a lot of resolution when I bring it into Vuforia and Unity.

The original image I uploaded is 1397x1080 @ 314 DPI.  When viewed in an external application, this image shows good detail.

Vuforia Target Manager gave the image 4 stars and I was able to download the target and add to my Vuforia/Unity project.

I drop an ImageTarget prefab into my scene, and then select the correct Data Set and Image Target for the Image Target Behaviour Script.  Width and height automatically set to original image dimensions.  The Scale of the image also auto sets to the width of the image.

First tests show that tracking is working for this image.  But zooming in on the image, the resolution is very low.  I want to show virtual wires on top of a protoboard, so I'd like a bit better resolution to be able to place them correctly.

Is there any way I can improve the resolution of my target image in my scene view?

When rendering the targets in the Scene View, the Unity editor uses some downscaled version of the images;

these can be found in:
