Any tweaks how to create trackable cuboid target from the real box side images?

The error you're facing is not related the length values you entered into the target manager. It is a result of the image files uploaded to the target manager not matching the aspect ratio of the boxes front/back/top/bottom/side dimensions.

For example, assuming that W=0.26, H=0.40, and L=0.18, the aspect ratios must be:

• Front & back images -> 0.26:0.40 (i.e. W:H)
• Left & right side images -> 0.18:0.40 (i.e. L:H)
• Top & bottom images -> 0.26:0.18 (i.e.W:L)

But it is hard to cut from real picture exactly with needed ratio. Shouldn't the Target Manager be more forgiving and post process pictures toward required rate?

So I have managed to cut and upload (despite not user friendly experience)  front, back, left and right pictures of my cuboid target. But for some reason I can't do top and bottom. It simply says "Uploaded Image is Invalid."  I took all pics under the same conditions, with the same camera and have preprocessed (crop) them the same way. Why top and bottom are invalid and rest are OK? Could somebody help me please?

I see another error half of the times. "An error occurred while uploading the image. Please try later."(see attachment).

And after this error I see my picture uploaded as single image which I haven't created. It creates itself somehow (see attachment).

Sorry for the difficulties you've been having. The only way I can effectively troubleshoot this is to attempt to replicate it in my environment.

Please provide me the same targets you're using and are causing the errors. If you do not feel comfortable posting them here, PM me with a link where I can download them.

The pics are attached. The ratio is 1.6  0.41x0.255.

I'll take a look. It would be optimal to get the sides, front and back targets, too, if you can provide those. Otherwise, I'll have to create my own.

Hmm. The problem is not with aspect ratio. As I mentioned I was able to load all sides but top and bottom. Why top and bottom are special? I have prepared all in the same way. When aspect ratio is wrong the Target Manager just says it "Please provide an image with appropriate aspect ratio." In my case it say just that picture invalid. I'm sure that aspect ratio is right. And I haven't skewed pics in any way. Just has cropped side part as precise as I could. 

I'll try to do it in the way you have suggested. But I still think that it should work the way I did to be practical. And it almost works actually. Just 2 sides out of 6 haven't worked out. So I still thing that there is some bug in the tool.

I have done what you suggested. I have altered the pics to match each side physical dimensions and uploaded it to Target Manager. I didn't have issues with it. Then I have printed it out and glued to the box sides. Works fine. I mean my weird box is recognized and tracked well. Thanks for help.

Hi. I'm having the same problem. The upload engine is too picky. There should be a greater tolerance in the allowed aspect ratio. I have rotated the pictures by 90° in an attempt to correct the "wrong" aspect ratio. I have also worked from a small real world box and the cropped images do have the correct aspect ratios to within a very small fractional error. This should be allowed.

The only thing I can do now is to resize the images so that the attached edges have exactly the same amount of pixels so that there can be NO error whatsoever. Would be great if this was not so precise.

Ok. So I got it to work buy resizing some of my images by just a few pixels on one of the sides so that the aspect ratio is more accurately that of my provided dimensions. A bit of a pain.
