Local contrast enhancement and Scaling

Hello,

I have read the guide concerning "Image Target Enhancement Tricks" but would really appreciate some advices about when to apply the local contrast enhancement.

Quote: "Also the down-scaling of the image to the size of 320 pixels on the longer side on the Target Manager can destroy the effect of this operation, so it is important to scale down the image before this step."

So I have to resize my image to a width of 320 pixels before enhancing the local contrast but what about the high res model that will get printed? Should I enhance the local contrast for the high res model too before printing? Can I still benefit the operation even if I have applied local contrast enhancement on different resolutions? (high res model for printing and 320 pixels model for Target Manager).

Little sketch in case I wasn't clear enough:

  • high res model -> enhance local contrast -> print
  • high res model -> resize to 320 pixels width -> upload to Target Manager

Will this work or should I do it another way?

Thanks

You don't need to apply local contrast enhancement to your high res print version. LCE improves the image used to create the trackable, but isn't going to have the same effect on the print version.
