Multiple target tracking for tabletop game

Hi,

I am building an application with augmented tangible UI. My goal is to fit at least 7 markers into camera's field of view, however, so far I was able to fit in a maximum of 3 serially placed markers so they are detected and tracked without bigger problems.

  • I am using Logitech C920 webcam
  • Favorable lighting conditions
  • Image markers with Chips/Stones image targets which have both 5-star rating

Would it help to use DSLR camera? Although C920 is one of the best webcams available. Is it even possible to connect DSLR camera to Vuforia AR Cam?

Did any of you manage to have small size markers that are detected and tracked easily? I am using 6x6 cm markers, but they are too big I also have 4x4 cm markers but then I have to move the camera closer to the table-top so I am still able to fit in the FoV just three physical markers...

I don't really care how the images look like, I just need them to work. I've read Vuforia's recommendation for Image-targets.

Thanks,

Filip

PS: I have found that when I am tracking just one marker, it works more or less alright, however, when introducing more markers to the scene, it is suddenly much harder to track them and the camera must be much closer in order to detect them and track them correctly.

Are you using Extended Tracking on all of the targets? Sometimes it takes a bit to detect the target, then is pretty good at remaining persistent, even if it doesn't know where every target is at all times.
