Multiple Targets and Multiple Trackables

September 19, 2014 - 9:56am #1

I'm and artist not a programmer so please be patient. I've followed the beginners tutorial and was successful at pushing an AR app to my Samsung Galaxy phone. I'm working in a pc environment. I'd like to track Multiple targets and have multiple trackables. I found some information on how to do this in one of the forums that said I should alter a comments line native source ImageTargets.cpp. My novice question is where do I find the "native source ImageTargets.cpp". I've clicked on several scripts in the vuforia unity prefab file list and an editor opens but i'm unable to find the native source ImageTargets.cpp.Please help.

If you try to use identical targets, you will probably get the following warning:

"Duplicate Trackables detected: "stones". Only one of the Trackables and its respective Augmentation will be selected for use at runtime - that selection is indeterminate here."

If you have 2 of the sample "stones" targets on your desk and maximum simultaneous targets increased beyond 1, you will see that the tracker uses one of them, but not both. Even though you can create multiple ImageTarget prefabs in your scene which have the "stones" image, the Trackable (i.e. the object representing the target in the physical space) doesn't know which of the identical ImageTargets you intended for it, and thus chooses one.

Thanks, your directions were spot on.Everything worked as I wanted. I'm able to display multiple targets and multiple objects. I do have one other question about Vuforia's ability to track and display multiple identical objects therefore revealing multiple identical objects. Is this possible?

For example if I have ten targets that are identically matched to ten tree objects in my project will it display ten tree objects when viewing ten targets through my camera display.

I know this sounds a bit like Peter pipper picked a peak of pickled peppers.

The image in your post shows the Native ImageTargets sample app for Android. The ImageTargets.cpp is in the jni folder. For Unity, you can add new ImageTarget prefabs to your scene and parent 3d objects to them. Examine the Property Inspector settings for the ARCamera and you will be able to enable multiple datasets and increase the Max Simultaneous Image Targets.
