Persistent Extended Tracking in Unity?

I'm struggling with the concept of PET and how to implement it in a Unity project. Most of the forum discussions I've been able to find are a few years old, and reference scripts I don't see in my current version of the SDK.

Can someone offer a concrete illustration of how to use PET in a Unity project? I'm really hoping for an "add this C# script to your trackable object" or "change this line of this existing script" sort of explanation. My programming skills are at the level of "determined tinkerer", so feel free to assume I barely know what I'm doing.
