Small image target in near field

I have a small image target (4x8cm) which need to work in short distance (40cm) area, and it requested stable tracking position. https://developer.vuforia.com/forum/faq/how-can-i-improve-detection-and-tracking-stability By follow the check list above, I got 5 star rating, and fit with most of the request but  "a physical printed image target should be at least 5 inches or 12 cm in width and of reasonable height for a good AR experience." which is very difficult to increase the size by my case. In current testing result, mostly scenes works fine, but the position will jumping case by case. Is there anyway I can improve the stability with my current condition?

Hello paulwang2000,

Is there a difference in image size and/or quality between the cases you are seeing the position jumping and those you aren't?

Thanks,

Hi Strasza,

I tried difference size and quality, I put as best quality as I can, it seems same for the jumping when the size getting small to my requirement. And also the lighting might impacted fluorescent vs natural. Specially when I am moving the image.

Thanks,

Are you able to get the camera closer, or is it as close as it can be? You could experiment with different camera focus modes to see if you can get a better focus on your image if you haven't already.
