Some question about Multi-Targets

March 24, 2014 - 4:38am #2

I am working in a project with a very big image placed on the floor so you do not can take the enough distance to see the full image with the device.

What I thought then is made a custom multi-target dividing the image like a puzzle and put the position in the xml and all the parts with the same rotation.

And this is working at the moment, but I have a lot of targets because the image is huge (like a tennis court), so I would like some answers to the following questions if is possible.

And I am using Unity.

- Is it possible use several image target and multi-targets simultaneusly? (mix multi-target and image targets in the same scene)

- It is possible have several multi-targets in one xml ,(dataset) ?

- Can vuforia detect differents multitargets
at the same time
or in the same scene one after another?

What value I have to use then in the variable "Max Simultaneus Image Targets"?

- How many targets support vuforia?
- How many targets support for dataset?
- How many targets support for each multi-target?
- How many multiTargets at the same scene or simultaneusly?

Thank you very much, I am sure that these answers together helps to more developers in the future.

Regards, Alberto

Some question about Multi-Targets

- Is it possible use several image target and multi-targets simultaneusly? (mix multi-target and image targets in the same scene)

yes

- It is possible have several multi-targets in one xml ,(dataset) ?

yes

- Can vuforia detect differents multitargets at the same time or in the same scene one after another?

yes, but the recommendation is to have no more than 10 targets simultaneously, otherwise detection will be hard (this may also vary from one device to another); you need to test to see if this the actual behaviour and performance are satisfactory for you.

- What value I have to use then in the variable "Max Simultaneus Image Targets"?

count the number of visible "faces" of your multi-targets (e.g. typically 3 faces are simultaneously visible for a cuboid multi-target) and then add the single image targets to the count. Note that if the total count is too high (> 10) you may face difficulties in detecting and tracking them all at the same time.

- How many targets support vuforia?

100 active targets at most , if using a Device Dataset (but can only track a few of them simultaneously in the same camera view, e.g. 10 at most)

If you use Cloud Recognition, you can recognize thousands of targets (but only one at a time can be tracked in the camera field of view). See the developer guide.

- How many targets support for dataset?

at most 100 in a Device dataset

- How many targets support for each multi-target?

There is not an explicitly hard-coded limit, but I would recommend not more than ~10

- How many multiTargets at the same scene or simultaneusly?

many in theory, for a device dataset you could aim for 100; however, see previous answers for how many of them can be simultaneously tracked.
