Target Created as 5 star but it is not detectable

February 7, 2015 - 6:27pm #1

I have a targeted created with 5 stars rating. However, it actual testing, the object cannot be detected.

  • Target ID: e3312b7b0a234268b7a8bf915b1c1aea
  • Augmentable: 5 )

May I know what when wrong? I was trying to scan the children books cover, I tested with the color and it does not work and I tried the grayscale too. Please advise what else can be done. TQ.

Target Created as 5 star but it is not detectable

In this case there seem to be an inconsistency between the rating of the target (5 stars) and the repetition patterns that make the target hard to detect;

I'll check this issue with our engineering team, but in the meantime you can ignore the Star rating of that specific Target and assume it is not suitable for detection given the repetition pattern.

Thanks Alessandro, I read of the problem of repeating patterns in this link https://developer.vuforia.com/library/articles/Solution/Natural-Features-and-Ratings but the score was 0 stars.

Your "first.png" image contains a good amount of features (and this is why it gets a 5 star rating), however unfortnately it also has very severe "repetitive patterns", which is why detection results very difficult (despite the theoretical rating being very high);

Your "second.jpg" image is instead very good at detecting, as it does not contain repetitive patterns.

Hi I have tha same problem!

I have created an image target and I got 5 star, however the image is not recognized. I have replaced the first image with a second image and work perfectly, why?

Thanks and sorry for my english...

Target Created as 5 star but it is not detectable

Those messages ("Found trackable ...", "Start QCAR...", "Trackable lost..." ) are normal debug messages that are logged when Vuforia initializes; also, the "Trackable lost" message comes from the Start() method of the Default Trackable Event Handler, and it is normal and expected (it simply marks the initialization of the event handler).

The "QCAR stop" message on the other hand are displayed when you pause your App or quit Play mode .

Hey ! I did everything you wrote in your last post but I get a warning immediately when my camera starts

Found trackable named Hello with id: 1

Start Qcar

Using default scene scale for device: 1

trackable lost

Qcar Stop

what could this be ?

Your image (when used in Device Database) detects very well;

I tried it in Unity with Vuforia 3.0.9 with a minimal setup (ARCamera + 1 Image Target + 1 Cube attached as child of the Image Target + 1 directional light) and it worked like a charm.  As Imbarns said, you need to make sure the Dataset is Loaded and Activated in the Data Set Load Behaviour of the ARCamera (see ARCamera inspector).

Hi, I suspected the same too. So I tried to swap the Image target back to chipsandstone device database and it just worked perfectly.

Sounds like you didn't enable it on the arcamera?
