I will echo all of the other comments on this board as the situation with the QCAR has meant that, even though we have excellent results in our app with it, we must change technology in order to achieve the outcome we require.
We desperately need to be able to create our own trackable dat file - either via an API or using software locally. Our app needs the trackable to be changed based on location/date so the current system is unworkable.
Ideally, it would also be dynamic - which other SDKs are able to achieve.
It's very unfortunate as the SDK is excellent otherwise.
Shame. :(
Re: Trackable API
Trackable API
Hey HarmonyUK,
I'd like to give this post a bump and also ask you what solution you ended up using that does allow for a trackable API?
I love this SDK but I can't use it as anything more than a demo technology without the ability to manage my trackables by myself.
Trackable API
I totally agree, the Vuforia technology is excellent, however we cant use it if there is not going to be a way to generate the trackables offline.
Qualcomm, could you perhaps provide some info if this feature is going to be supported in the (near) future?

Trackable API
I also must agree with the comments. I am developing a user generated content sharing system using AR, currently requiring users to send an image to me, which is then converted into a tracker and added to the trackables in the app.
Trackable API
Hi there,
is there a possibility to create trackables externally? Or is it decided anything in this topic?

Trackable API
No, at present the only way to create trackables is through the online TMS.
thanks,

it appears things have
it appears things have changed for vuforia v2?
You can now upload and
You can now upload and generate trackables from your own applications using our VWS Developer API and a Cloud Reco account.
This is exactly what I
This is exactly what I do.
And this is exactly what I ask about - the API is limited and does not allow this basic and highly needed features
Hi mark2k, can I invite you
Hi mark2k, can I invite you to put your desired API change/extensions in the Wish List thread:

Also, one way to visualize the target images that you have uploaded is to login into the Target Manager:
API limits - will it be extended?
Hi,
web development
I was looking for this. Thanks for sharing this....
yup, I have to agree, an
yup, I have to agree, an offline trackable system is a must... I'm battling away here trying to get a single trackable.. the "processing" screen just keeps showing up. I was really hoping this would be taken care of with the new vuforia site... sadly it continues.
v2 user defined targets
v.2 introduced something called user defined targets. If I understand it properly it does allow to create image target from camera input directly on the device. So would it be possible to use this to create image target and store it in dataset?
Hi, Stan, correct, Vuforia
Hi, Stan, correct, Vuforia 2.0 introduces user-defined targets. The API does not support storing user-created targets in a persistent dataset, though.
Alessandro, cloud recognition
Alessandro, cloud recognition by vuforia is an amazing thing and we have already released new update of our app using it.
Hi stan, thanks for sharing
Hi stan, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this; as already mentioned with other users, what I can do is to invite you to add another post in the Forum Wish-List thread (if you did not do it yet):
