Any plans for QCar to run on Windows 8?

December 22, 2011 - 12:30pm #1

Our company is looking for a Cross Platform AR tracking library that can work on iOS, Android, Windows, and ideally, OSX too.

QCar looks fantastic, but are there any plans for QCar to run on Windows devices?

I can understand why QCar would only run on devices that use Qualcomm hardware, but I have heard that Windows 8 will run on Qualcomm hardware, so is there any chance that QCar will run on Windows 8? And once this port had been created, would this mean that QCar could also run on older versions of Windows?

Hi just got a reply on this from Roy Ashok, QCar Product Manager:

Quote:

Thanks for your interest in QCAR. Today we support Android and iOS. We are committed to bringing QCAR to all partner operating systems on mobile devices. This includes Windows phone and Windows 8. At this point, we do not have a firm timeline for this. We will not be porting to earlier versions of windows.

Separately on Android, we support all android devices with Eclaire or higher, not just those that run on Qualcomm Snapdragon chips. Examples include the Motorola Droid2 (TI OMAP) and the Motorola Atrix (Nvidia tegra 2)
