iPhone 3GS ERROR/AR(112) Dataset QCAR/*.dat not loaded successfully. Please redownload your dataset...

So 2 projects work on all the iOS devices except a 3GS with iOS 4.0.1 Wish we had another 3Gs in house to test on.

Symptom, never finds the AR target? 

xcode does provides an error for this device.

Did re-re-re-download data from Qualcomm

Early in my project worked on 3Gs, but since then updated from QCAR to Vuforia, Xcode is now 4.2, Unity is now 3.5.3... so niot exactly sure when it broke?

Sorry for the delay.

I just tried it ......

....and it worked first time on the 3GS and iPhone 4.

I got a black/grey cube showing up on the tarmac image which was the main.scene in Unity right?

Looking like my one device is the issue? Not sure why.... but running the sample image target project (vuforia-imagetargets-ios-1-5-9.unitypackage) wihtout any modification gives me the same issue.

 

So its a 3Gs running 4.0.1 (8A306)

 

Please note the " ERROR/AR(1061)"  & "Absolute number of Trackables: 0"

Hi carlgloria,

I spent some time investigating this issue and here is what I found so far.

I took a sample image targets Unity app, added the IconRetail dataset and change the ImageTargetChips so that one of the ImageTargets used the image you supplied instead of Chips or Stones, and that this was the default dataset loaded when the application starts.

Basically this worked perfectly on an iPhone4 and an iPhone 3GS. 

However, upon further examination of the XML file I noticed that the size was 1 * 1, compared with 247 * 142 for Chips/Stones, which I guess roughly means it is in mm.

In my experience, having images of a small size can affect whether an image gets detected or not, so I suggest two things you can do to move forward:

  • Start with a new dataset on MyTrackables and create a new image with a larger size, as described above
  • Test the image using a new Unity Project based on Image Targets to prove that image detection and tracking works

This should help you to progress.

Have you tried deleting the XCode project folder for this Unity project? Sometimes Unity iOS projects can become corrupted in XCode.

Am using latest....

 

For a sanity check , just redownloaded SDK and Data.

 

deleted those follers from project and re-imported those custom packages freshly downloaded,

 

same symptom... here is the log... ( where/how can I send you the dataset?)

Am using latest....

 

For a sanity check , just redownloaded SDK and Data.

 

deleted those follers from project and re-imported those custom packages freshly downloaded,

 

same symptom... here is the log... ( where/how can I send you the dataset?)

Are you using the current Vuforia iOS extension release version? And is the dataset packaged with the app?

I'd recommended uninstalling the app, and generating a fresh Unity project if you can. Otherwise you might try deleting the Plugins, Editor, and Qualcomm Augmented Reality folders, and reimporting the current iOS extension.

I'll take a look at your dataset if that doesn't work.
