Issues on Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G

May 25, 2012 - 6:36am #1

Hello,

I'm experiencing some issues on a Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G device. At the beginning the application runs as expected as Unity or normal Android App but after several seconds the camera feed suddenly stops and displays only the last frame. All virtual objects are still displayed and animations are still running on the basis of the last frame.

Here's a part of the logfile:

Hello Peter,

I removed all Vuforia apps as you said and then re-installed them with network access. It seems to work now as long as I don't restart the app. After an app restart the screen remains black in most of the cases. I tried to start "Barcode Scanner" but it told me that there is a problem with the camera. The only help to get the camera working again is a complete restart of the device.

This appears regularly in logcat after I try to restart a Vuforia app:

Hello Celas,

I have updated some setting on our server. Please try again with the GT-I9100G. First remove the Vuforia app from the device by deleting it and then re-install. Please make sure your device has network access when running the freshly installed app.

Thank you,

-Peter

Quote:

Does this happen with the ImageTargets sample application?

Yes it does almost instantly. I couldn't even point the device to the stones image.

Quote:

Also can you tell me if your device has an active network connection when you are running your application?

Yes, it has a Wi-Fi connection all the time.

Quote:

Have you seen this camera behavior with any other apps?

I played around with the pre-installed camera app, "3D Compass" and "Barcode Scanner" for several minutes but all worked as intended (no freeze).

Quote:

Are you using Unity? If so, what version?

Normally I don't but I did some tests with it. As I described in my first post, the camera freeze happens there too. I was using Unity 3.5.1f2 with version 1.5.10 of the android extensions for the tests and updated it to 3.5.2f2 today but it didn't solve the issue.

Today I was able to get my hands on a Galaxy S2 GT-I9100. On that device all the apps worked perfectly. Just to be sure that there are no misunderstandings, I have a GT-I9100G (TI OMAP 4430) and not the GT-I9100 (Exynos chipset) which I was able to test today.

Best regards,
Celas

If you do not have an active network connection can you try again when your device is connected to a wifi or cellular network?

Are you using Unity? If so, what version?

Thank you,

The Android Version is 2.3.6 and I am using SDK Version 1.5.9. I even tried a hard reset but that didn't help.

Hello,

Can you tell me the Android version running on your device. Also what version of the Vuforia SDK are you using?

Have you tried restarting the device? Do you see the same behavior?

Thank you,

-Peter
