Problems with Device Connection

December 23, 2010 - 12:39pm #1

I have set up all the programs on my PC, running Windows 7, and attempted to install the drivers for the phone, Motorola Droid 2.The hardware was installed (Android ADB Interface) but the software generated this comment.

"The software for this device is now installed, but may not work correctly.

This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

This is after I reinstalled it through the Add Hardware Wizard. I checked to see if it's connect but the device doesn't appear in the DDMS and neither would it connect in cygwin.

That site worked out, thank you!

You said the device isn't connecting to ADB at all, correct? This might be a problem to take up in the Google Android forums then. Here's one thread that might be helpful, you might try searching some more there and posting a question if you're still not having any luck.

I've given Motorola a call already and they claim that it's a software problem. My computer registers the USB connection just fine. I can access the device and store files in it but I it doesn't register in Eclipse. Thanks for the suggestion though.

This is a USB driver issue, and something we can't really help with. You probably need to grab the latest drivers from Motorola, and perhaps you can contact them if you are having trouble connecting your device.

Here's more info:

Under the Android ADB Interface Properties, it says that "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

Code 10 apparently means that the driver isn't installed properly but it shows this anyway when I try reinstalling it. I tried updating the driver software and it says "The best driver software for your device is already installed."
