Works on Android not on iOs

January 27, 2020 - 1:16am #1

Hi!

I am currently developing content using a third party service that use the Vuforia engine for AR-recognition.

It is responding perfectly on Android devices (tested on old and new Huawei phone), but struggles on iPads and iPhones, both new and old.

Anyone know what might be the cause of this and how to fix or work around it?

I don't have the opportunity to change the app as it is a paid service, but I could either report it to them so that they can make the changes or if the bug is due to a setting on iOS devices this can be changed on the user side.

Thanks in advance! :)

Since I am not developing the app, I cannot tell you what versions they use. The information is not available in the app nor on their website. Updates come about once a month for the app though, so I guess they are up to date - at least with the vuforia version. Triggers that works well on Android usually has a poorer response rate on iOS devices.

The triggers are a set of playing cards that all have a different pattern in the background (and a variety of sign language illustrations in the foreground). There are five categories with three cards in each category. I am aware that the pattern on the triggers is a little bit too repetative in some of them, so I have masked most of the pattern away to have them respond better.

On an iOS device I can spend 10-15 seconds to get a trigger to respond. Usually it will work with a larger distance and not at all when the trigger fills the screen.

This can maybe take 2-5 seconds on the android devices I have tested with.

I have managed to manipulate the triggers now so that they respond in an acceptable time. Still quite a bit slower and more adjustments with distance needed on the iOS though.

Hi,

Could you please provide more info on the behavior that you see on the IOS front?

Also could you please confirm the Unity and Vuforia SDK version?

Thank you.
