Black Screen on Vuforia SDK 0.5 and Google Cardboard SDK using Unity

Hi,

I'm trying to build the arvr sample in Unity that comes with Vuforia SDK 0.5 for my Android phone.. I integrated Google Cardboard SDK. However, when I try to debug the resulting app, I can only see black screen. This may seems that I didn't get the video stream from my Android device. I looked around and did the Vuforia SDK and Google Cardboard SDK integration, but it still doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

  • the steps for Cardboard 0.5.2 and Vuforia 5.0 are documented here:

  • I would recommend using 32bit version of the Unity 5 Editor (as you mention using the 64bit version, but this is not supported by Vuforia 5.0)

 

  • I would also suggest double-checking that you use the correct Player Settings ; in particular the graphics API should be set to OpenGL ES 2.0, as documented here:

  • Check that you have only one instance of AndroidManifest.xml in your Assets/Plugins/Android folder; if you happen to have 2 Android Manifest files, delete them and reimport the AndroidManifest.xml from the Cardboard SDK package, then re-add the Camera and Network permissions to it as documented in the guide above

 

  • Check that you have only one instance of CardboardMain in your scene; if you happen to have a second "Cardboard" object, please remove it

I followed the enitre tutorial but i still get the black screen. 

I also had checked only the cardboard sdk demo on my galaxy s4 and it works fine.

i am using

-Cardboard SDK  v0.5.2

-vuforia-unity-5-0-10.unitypackage

-Testing on samsung galaxy S4 (Android version 5.0.1)

- Sample unityscene ->   Vuforia-3-AR-VR

- Unity3d 64bit version 5.3.1f1

I also had checked the development build in build settings to avoid black screen as suggested in tutorial but it doesnt work. 

A proper direction would be very helpful.

Check that your device can run with Cardboard SDK (without Vuforia);

to verify this, you can build and run the Cardboard Demo Scene that comes with the Cardboard unity integration package. If it shows black screen, it's a Cardboard related issue on that specific device.

Have you tried following all the steps in the Google Cardboard Integration tutorial? I ended up following that and I had no problem. Make sure that you've positioned the Google Cardboard main prefab in the same position as the ARCamera prefab. Also, don't forget to connect them both. As I suspect, this might be one of the cause of black screen.

I'm facing same blackscreen issue can you please help me how to resolve it.

Using vuforia 0.5
Google Cardboard sdk 0.5.1

Ooops, my bad, I accidentally uses an older Google Cardbord SDK version. I'm using 0.5, and it's working smoothly.
