Increase the size of AR camera field of view

I attach a file with the configuration that works for me. I have a One Plus 6 and with these values I can see VR in fullscreen working with Vuforia. This configuration file is in "Vuforia Configuration".

- "Screen to lens distance" makes the area bigger.

- "Inter lens distance" augments the distance between eyes.

So you have to increase that values to adjust it to your phone, with mine works with 0.7 for each property.

Also, you can adjust "field of view" but works nice with different values.

I know it's an old question, here what work for me. first I run the play mode and then by clicking the AR Camera at hierarchy at scene mode I adjust the background plane. we know that the setting will never change when you enter play mode, so I copy the dimension of the background plane and paste it after I exit the play mode.

So the only way to solve this is to physically increase the cameras field of view?

You can also create a zoom in effect by selecting each separate Left and Right Camera and then increasing the Field of View slider.

Even I tried to solve the same problem, I tried scaling the ARcamera in order to get the most fill. But it had a zoom like effect and it distorted the camera feed. Then, I tried moving the BackgroundPlane gameobject (which is the child of stereoCameraLeft inside ARcamera) and deleting the distortion camera via scripts. It's results were better but still a bit distorted.

Then as my final and most effective way I changed my DigitalEyewearBehaviour I used parameters as in the image attached. I used a custom viewer type and changed the parameters till I got the desired view.

If anybody has better solution please post it in this thread.

In Play mode in the Editor, you can increase the Scale of the BackgroundPlane to X:2500 and Z:2000  to fill the screen...

however we cannot change the values anywhere else to have the effect permanent.

any ideas how?

"...this problem doesnt come in the unity cardboard app without AR camera....it comes fullscreen on both the eyes.even in the same iphone6 or any IOS device..."

Of course, the Cardboard App (without Vuforia) does not render a video background from your device camera; it only renders a purely virtual content (a virtual world);

Now, if you try the Vuforia AR-VR sample app, and you move into the VR phase of the App, you will see that the VR scene is filling pretty much all the available screen space, i.e. same as what you see with the Cardboard App.

however, when you are in AR mode, the Camera image only represents a limited portion of the real world around you, i.e. it represents the portion of real world that is currently visible through the camera lenses of your real device, which have limited Field of View;

in other terms, the camera background image represents what your device (your iPhone) is currently seeing;

suppose  the iPhone camera image was, for example, 60 degrees wide and 45 degrees tall (just as an example, the real numbers may be slightly different), everything that the camera can see will fall within those [60x45] degrees boundaries;

the remaining areas, i.e. outside those boundaries, will be filled with black, or whichever background color you have set;

Vuforia here is not applying a "mask" that clips the image, it simply renders the image to its full extent, but those extents cannot fill the available viewing volume of Cardboard (80x80 degrees).

The camera video background appears smaller than the available screen space, leaving some black areas around the image, simply because the Cardboard virtual frustum Field of View is larger (approx 80 degrees) than the viewing volume corresponding to device camera.

What you see is the expected result, there is no "problem" or issue with that;  the visual result should appear correct once you watch it through the lenses in the Cardboard viewer.

Well it's the scale of cardboard head that needs to be set for full view, I guess its beacuse of Bind alternate camera in ARCamera prefab.
